Example program of study for Anthropology PhD students participating in the NRT program as a trainee. Program example is for a student entering with an MA in Anthropology. Without a prior degree in Anthropology, trainees would also be required to take ANG 6705 Foundations of Applied Anthropology (3 credits) and Pre-requisites prior to their first semester, and would take one less elective to total 46 credits. Courses in Years 1 and 2 are interchangeable except FEWs Nexus NRT core course should be taken in the first semester. All graduate students in Anthropology can also apply to become Strong Coasts Affiliates and participate in optional leadership activities, sponsored events such as talks and workshops, NRT courses, field research, and apply for graduate Challenge Grants focused on FEWs projects.
Any questions related to the Strong Coasts NRT and the anthropology program? Please contact Dr. Rebecca Zarger, Graduate Director and Strong Coasts Co-Principal Investigator, via email at rzarger@usf.edu. The doctoral program in anthropology requires applicants to hold a masters degree in order to be accepted, but the degree does not have to be in anthropology.
[Students who participate in the program will be asked to participate in a 30 minute interview and 30 minute survey about Strong Coasts. The interview will be audio recorded. Participation is voluntary, does not affect your application status, and is not compensated. This is a research study being conducted by the University of South Florida to learn about your experiences and learning outcomes in the Strong Coasts program (IRB study Pro00033749). The Principal Investigator is Dr. Maya Trotz (matrotz@usf.edu or (510) 593-3647).]
